White House tells agencies to say “Super Intelligence,” not “A.I.”

On Sept. 29, 2026, President Trump signed an executive order titled “Inaugurating The Era Of Super Intelligence.” It says that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, executive departments and agencies shall use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents, and other non-statutory documents. Old regulations, contracts, and historical documents do not have to be rewritten. For now, Super Intelligence means the same technologies covered by the statutory definition of artificial intelligence in Legal instrument The existing federal statute definition of “artificial intelligence” that the Sept. 29, 2026 terminology order uses as the temporary meaning of Super Intelligence until a new definition is set.15 U.S.C. §9401(3)
