On Sept. 29, 2026, President Trump signed an order directing the General Services Administration to establish America.gov as a unified digital front door for major federal services, with Login.gov as the sign-in path. Covered services are public-facing services that serve more than 100,000 users in a 12-month period and can be used online. Tax filing at the Internal Revenue Service, Department of War services, and Intelligence Community services are excluded. The Office of Management and Budget has 90 days to issue an implementation memo. Phone, mail, in-person, and agency-specific sites stay available. America.gov is meant to be a better option, not the only one.
