The trade representative told Treasury to resume liquidation of the plant's unliquidated entries.
The U.S. trade office said Monday that a food plant in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, has fixed the labor violations that led the United States to hold up its goods. The plant is Alimentos Grole. Customs processing of those goods can resume.1
The case ran under the , the trade deal's fast review of a single factory. The plant reinstated nine unlawfully dismissed workers with full back pay and benefits, and it paid full severance to two workers. The trade representative directed the Treasury secretary to resume liquidation of goods from the facility that hadn't yet been cleared.1
A petition was filed on July 29, 2025. Mexico found on Oct. 10, 2025, that a denial of rights had occurred. Monday's announcement says the remediation plan is done.
Why it matters (Estimate). This is one factory, not a rewrite of the trade deal. It is a case of the deal's labor rule being used: fired workers get their jobs or their severance back, and the goods move again. The United States argues that rule keeps American plants from competing with wages held down by firing people who organize.1
The release names the plant, the city, and the state. It doesn't name the nine workers.
