Confirmed from SpaceX's account of the Bandwagon-5 mission, as read by the science desk from the company's mission page on Wednesday morning. The public launch page this pass opened did not include the mission text.
SpaceX said a Falcon 9 carrying 32 small payloads lifted off at 7:04 a.m. Eastern Tuesday from Cape Canaveral, and that the first-stage booster landed after its 19th flight. The company said the payloads included cubesats, microsats, and reentry vehicles.1
The mission is Bandwagon-5, from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The science desk's read of the company's mission page says the booster landed on the droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas. The company's posts, as that desk timed them, put liftoff at 7:04 a.m., landing at 7:13 a.m., and the end of payload deployment at 9:56 a.m. Eastern.1
Why it matters (Estimate). Estimate. A rideshare is how a university, a small company, or a government puts a small satellite in orbit without buying a whole rocket. The price of a slot is not in the page.1 Landing the same booster for a 19th time is part of why that ride is cheaper.
The public launch page this edition opened did not include that mission text, so the sentences are the science desk's morning read of the company's page. No photograph from the company is used.
