The Senate refused Tuesday to open debate on a House-passed digital-asset bill. On a 49–50 vote at about 2:19 p.m., senators rejected cloture on the motion to proceed to , the . Sixty votes were required. One senator did not vote. The bill does not move to full floor debate on this vote. Senator Thom Tillis then moved to reconsider, leaving open the chance of another try later. Congress.gov’s summary says the would set federal rules for digital commodities and split oversight between the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Senate measure title on the roll-call record also notes limits on certain Federal Reserve retail products and on using a central bank digital currency for monetary policy.
