Status

Partially confirmed. OpenAI's deployment-safety hub published a GPT-6 Cyber system card on November 5, 2026. The card describes the model, its ratings, and the access limits. The news-article page returned 403. The ratings are the company's.

The system card page exists, is dated November 5, 2026, and says what this story quotes. The news feed carries the same product name.
  • Partially confirmed
The capability comparison and the preparedness ratings are OpenAI's. This desk did not run the evaluations. The article page returned 403.
OpenAI published a system card on November 5, 2026, for GPT-6 Cyber, which the card calls a cybersecurity version of GPT-6 Astra meant for security work the user is allowed to do. A system card is the company's own write-up of what a model can do and the limits it says it set. The news article returned 403.12
The card says GPT-6 Cyber "is a cyber-specialized variant of GPT-6 Astra designed for authorized security work, including tasks such as vulnerability discovery, exploit development, and web pentesting." It says the goal is to keep that work inside the user's authorized scope.1
Under what the card calls its , it gives GPT-6 Cyber the same labels as GPT-6 Astra: Critical in Cybersecurity, High in the Biological and Chemical domain, and below High in AI self-improvement. It says the model shows substantially stronger cybersecurity capabilities than GPT-5.6 Cyber. Those are the company's comparisons.1
Why it matters (Estimate). Estimate. The people who can use this model are the ones OpenAI says it will check through Daybreak Red. Everyone else is outside that gate, on the company's account. The Critical and High labels are OpenAI's ratings, not a test this desk ran.
The card says access is restricted through a program it calls Daybreak Red, with identity verification, use restrictions, and organizational security requirements. The news feed, timestamped 9:00 GMT on November 5, which is 4:00 a.m. ET, describes the same model in one sentence. This desk did not open the article behind that sentence.12
