Status
Confirmed from NASA’s space station blog, Sept. 1, 2026.
NASA’s space station blog said U.S. spacewalk 99 ended at 3:29 p.m. EDT on Sept. 1, 2026. NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot were outside for 6 hours 49 minutes. NASA said they installed a new retroflector on Harmony’s forward port, replaced a high-definition camera, and swabbed the station’s exterior for microorganisms. Some jumper-cable and AMS radiator tasks were deferred.
NASA reported that Jessica Meir and Sophie Adenot concluded their spacewalk outside the International Space Station at 3:29 p.m. EDT on Sept. 1, 2026. The outing lasted 6 hours 49 minutes. NASA identified it as U.S. spacewalk 99, Meir’s seventh and Adenot’s third, and the 284th spacewalk in support of station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.
During the walk, NASA said, they installed a new retroflector on the forward port of Harmony to support spacecraft navigation, replaced a high-definition camera on the truss, and completed a swab of the exterior for microorganisms. Mission Control deferred remaining guide studs for the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer radiator and shifted remaining jumper cables to a later date. NASA said Adenot had some left-arm mobility issues that eased after Meir unzipped a joint on the suit.
What is still unknown or disputed
- A later spacewalk date to finish the deferred AMS and jumper work was not set in the blog post fetched.
