Status
Confirmed from the White House briefings page dated Sept. 2, 2026. This closes the unsigned gap noted Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, the White House said the President signed into law H.R. 6500, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2027. The White House briefing says the Act includes a short-term continuing resolution that provides fiscal year 2027 appropriations to Federal agencies through December 11, 2026, for continuing projects and activities of the Federal Government, and extends authorities for a broad range of programs including surface transportation and veteran programs. The House had concurred in the Senate amendments 370–48 on Sept. 1 (already on Wednesday’s File). This closes the unsigned gap noted Wednesday.
The White House briefings page titled “Congressional Bill H.R. 6500 Signed into Law,” dated September 2, 2026, states: “On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the President signed into law: H.R. 6500, the “Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2027,” which includes a short-term continuing resolution that provides fiscal year 2027 appropriations to Federal agencies through December 11, 2026, for continuing projects and activities of the Federal Government, and extends authorities for a broad range of programs including surface transportation and veteran programs.”
Wednesday’s File recorded House concurrence in the Senate amendments to H.R. 6500, 370–48 on Sept. 1, and treated presentation and signature as unverified because no White House signing statement had been fetched. The Sept. 2 White House posting is that signing notice.
No separate signing-ceremony transcript was fetched from the same briefings page beyond that one-paragraph notice.
What is still unknown or disputed
- No separate signing-ceremony transcript or veto-threat statement was fetched beyond the White House briefings page.
