G20 finance meetings continue in Asheville; still no joint statement

Confirmed that the meetings run through Sept. 1 and that the EU issued an Aug. 31 statement. No G20 joint statement is claimed.

The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings in Asheville continue through Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, per the U.S. Treasury host framing and the European External Action Service statement dated Aug. 31. The EEAS said the EU welcomes additional economic pressure on Iran, including through the U.S.-led Operation Economic Outcast, and remains ready to take further measures where necessary. No G20 joint statement from the Asheville meetings has been documented in sources fetched for this edition.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Feb. 19 announcement listed Aug. 31–Sept. 1 in Asheville as the finance ministers and central bank governors meeting. Treasury’s Aug. 5 credentialing notice (sb0594) printed the same window: Monday, Aug. 31, through Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.

The European External Action Service, in a statement dated Aug. 31 in the context of those meetings, said the EU “welcomes efforts at ensuring that Iran ceases its destabilising activities and engages in peace negotiations with good faith, also through additional economic pressure, including through the US led Operation Economic Outcast.” The same statement said the EU “remains ready to take further measures, where necessary.”
