On Sept. 9 the department said FinCEN analyzed 5,702 reports filed from March 1, 2025, through Feb. 28, 2026.

Depository institutions — banks, in plain terms — filed about 89 percent of the reports and accounted for nearly 87 percent of the dollar amounts, Treasury said.

Home health care businesses were named as the suspected fraudulent provider in 20 percent of the reports. Other frequent types included hospice, mental and behavioral health, medical equipment, and day care.

The is the law that makes banks and other financial firms report certain cash and suspicious transactions. The figures are suspected activity in those reports, not proven losses in court.
